Classics Live Review

For most of my life, I've loudly and proudly identified myself as a Supertramp fan. All these years later, I listen with awe to the altogether stunning new Classics Live album only to discover that I am, in fact, first and foremost, a major Roger Hodgson fan. His is the voice that spoke to me as a young man, and speaks to me even more powerfully all these years later. An utterly inspired collection of live performances of the best-loved songs that Roger Hodgson has written and sung to date, Classics Live reminds us in the most vivid way who brought the world such beloved rock standards as "Give A Little Bit," "Take The Long Way Home," "The Logical Song" and "Dreamer," and why these shining songs endure as deeply personal yet somehow universal expression of longing, love and our endless search for human connection. Hodgson's performances on Classics Live were recorded in various venues around the world -- from France to Brazil to Germany to Venezuela. Some of the performances here are acoustic, some with a small rock band; others find Hodgson backed by an orchestra too, and yet the entire album holds together as the deeply felt song cycle of a lifetime from an artist who for too long has been too humble to lay claim to his own remarkable musical legacy. Roger Hodgson may have taken the long way home, but with Classics Live he's back and he has never sounded better.

Agora estou completamente de acordo com a 1ª posição, que acho justíssima e fico muito feliz por, mais uma vez, darem o valor que o Sr. Keith Moon merece e que, como diz a Q, transformou o acto de tocar bateria, a partir do momento em que se tornou o baterista de The Who.

Cantora inglesa apresentou-se ao vivo no Brasil e deu concerto de altos e baixos, noticia a imprensa local. Tablóide inglês The Sun fala em cachê de 5 milhões de libras por 5 concertos no país-irmão.

Aconteceu esta semana em Florianópolis, no Brasil, o aguardado regresso de Amy Winehouse aos palcos.
A cantora inglesa apresentou-se ao vivo perante 12 mil pessoas, surgindo em palco perto da uma da manhã, com "Just Friends" e "Back To Black".
Segundo a reportagem do Folha Ilustrada, Amy "cantava de maneira atabalhoada, muita gente nem conseguia descobrir que músicas eram aquelas".
A mulher de Back To Black "demonstrava nervosismo, esfregava as mãos no rosto e abria uma garrafa de água mineral atrás da outra", acabando por sair de palco.
O rumo do concerto mudou com "Rehab", escreve ainda o Folha Ilustrada, passando Amy Winehouse "a sorrir e a dançar".

Renato Seabra confessa homicídio

O manequim, de 21 anos, confessou ter assassinado Carlos Castro e é acusado de homicídio em segundo grau. A polícia adianta que Renato Seabra poderá ser presente a um juíz no Tribunal Criminal de Manhattan ainda hoje, o que só acontecerá se tiver alta médica.

Renato Seabra confessou à polícia nova-iorquina que matou Carlos Castro. O manequim, de 21 anos, revelou que agrediu, pontapeou e esmurrou o cronista social durante mais de uma hora e lhe bateu com o monitor de um computador, antes de o castrar com um saca-rolhas, avança o Daily News. Renato Seabra, acusado de homicídio em segundo grau, terá confessado que o fez para se "ver livre de demónios, ver livre de vírus".
Segundo o New York Post, o jovem modelo, que continua internado na ala psiquiátrica do Bellevue Hospital, terá ainda dito aos polícias: "Já não sou gay". A publicação refere ainda que, antes do crime, os dois tiveram uma violenta discussão, durante a qual o modelo afirmou não ser homossexual e estar com o cronista social apenas pelo seu dinheiro e a sua influência.
Entretanto, a mãe de Renato Seabra, Odília Pereirinha, já viajou para Nova Iorque para prestar todo o apoio ao jovem. "O meu filho seria incapaz de cometer... o que está a acontecer. Quero falar com ele e só aí vou perceber o que está a acontecer", afirmou a mãe do modelo em declarações à TVI, no aeroporto da Portela, momentos antes da partida para os Estados Unidos. Odília falou ainda da orientação sexual do filho e garante ainda que este não é homossexual. "O meu filho não era namorado do Carlos Castro. Ele, desde o primeiro instante, nunca escondeu a sua sexualidade, que é heterossexual."
Recorde-se que Renato Seabra foi, desde o primeiro momento, o principal suspeito do assassinato de Carlos Castro, na última sexta-feira, em Nova Iorque. O jovem manequim e o cronista social passaram um animado fim de ano na cidade americana, depois de terem dado entrada no hotel Intercontinental no dia 29 de dezembro.

InterContinental 'killer' confesses to castrating dead journalist

A male model has confessed to brutally torturing his journalist sugar daddy in a Midtown hotel for more than an hour -- and then castrating him with a wine corkscrew -- to get rid of "demons and a virus," law-enforcement sources said yesterday.

"I'm not gay anymore!" accused killer Renato Seabra, 20, told investigators he raged to popular Portuguese fashion columnist Carlos Castro, 65.

Seabra then allegedly attacked the older man at the InterContinental Hotel in Times Square on Friday.

He told cops that he killed Castro "to get rid of demons, to get rid of the virus," sources said. "The virus" does not refer to AIDS, although it was unclear what exactly Seabra meant by the statement, the source said.

SICKO: Renato Seabra, 20, allegedly admitted to cops that he exclaimed, "I'm not gay anymore!" and then beat, tortured and killed 65-year-old Portuguese journalist Carlos Castro in a Times Square hotel room.

Seabra confessed to the gruesome slaying Saturday night while recovering at Bellevue Hospital, where he was being treated for self-inflicted slashes to his wrists, sources said. He was then charged with second-degree murder.

The couple had been dating since October, sources said, and was supposed to be vacationing in New York through Jan. 15.

But Seabra allegedly confronted Castro, telling him that he was not gay and was only using him for his money and influence, sources said.

The pair got into a heated dispute, sources said.

The model told investigators that he beat, kicked and punched the helpless Castro for more than an hour as the older man lay on the floor of the 34th-floor room. Seabra then allegedly bashed Castro in the head with a heavy computer monitor.

Seabra took a wine corkscrew to mutilate his victim, plunging it into one of Castro's eyes and then using it to cut off his testicles, sources said.

The mutilation was long and gruesome. "It wasn't a two-minute thing," one source said.

Castro may have still been alive but was likely unconscious at this point, the sources said.

After the slaying, Seabra took a shower and put on a suit. At some point before leaving, he slit his wrists.

He was nabbed at Roosevelt Hospital after taking a cab there to seek treatment, officials said.
